Was set up in 1999 by a group of local people interested in promoting thrift. The Common Bond area is Annandale & Eskdale, Nithsdale and the Stewartry.
Solway Credit Union has an office in Dumfries and is available for people who live or work in Nithsdale, Stewartry, or Annandale & Eskdale. In the west, Stranraer Credit Union covers Wigtownshire.
Being run by the members for the members on a not-for-profit basis, they provide a safe home for savings and are a source of affordable credit. If you choose to borrow, you`ll need to have been a saving member for 13 weeks before you can apply.
Solway has also got a great new product called Rent First which is designed to help people on Universal Credit run their budget and make sure their rent is always paid.
There are a number of ways to save with the credit union through employers who offer payroll deduction, direct debit standing order.
