The credit Union is a local, not for profit financial institution which was begun by a group of local people as an Industrial and Provident Society based on mutual principles based at 1 John Wood Street Port Glasgow.
The operations and management of the credit union was carried out by volunteers and the Board of Directors with a view to helping families and individuals in the credit union area to improve their quality of life. The Common Bond was for people who reside in the town of Port Glasgow.
Since then the Credit Union has offered people a friendly way to save and borrow also offering a junior saver account, where children can start saving until 18 so they can benefit with a transfer to an adult account helping them with finances as they go through life.
To updates or enhance the history on this credit union then it should be e-mailed to the Historical Society for inclusion and recorded for prosperity
