An ABCUL credit union was opened for business as Newmains Credit Union registered in June 1993 following a study group that had set-up earlier in the year
From then they provided savings and loans services to members. Those humble beginnings were staffed only by volunteers and this is how the credit union has grown.
After thirteen years and the expansion of the common bond to include the surrounding districts the current name was registered with the FSA June 2006.
The common bond is included for people who reside in Newmains, Allanton, Hartwood or Cambusnethan.
