Established in February 2008 Companies House Number 71CUS

The credit union began as Greater Northforge Credit Union Limited in June 2002 following a study group set-up earlier the previous year. The service was operated from the beginning by volunteers and an elected board of Directors.
From then they provide the services of Savings and Loans to members within the original common bond covering the area of Forgewood. The Common Bond was extended wider afield, to areas which were not already being served and membership grew steadily.
in 2008 Greater North Forge Credit Union began trading as Motherwell & District Credit Union with the extension of the common bond to either live, work or study in the ML1 eligibility for membership. A step to encouraging people in the community to come together to save and borrow at low rates with surpluses being returned to members.
In 2014 a dividend of 1% was paid into accounts and the following year agreed dividends of 1% for adult savers and 1.5% for juniors. Dividend added to saver accounts on 2nd April.
