Mercat Cross and The Bruce Credit Union

Established in 2004 Companies House Number 130CUS

Was first instigated and registered as Mercat Cross Credit Union Limited in June 2002 after a group of citizens got together to plan and receive training for the task.

The operations and management of the credit union was carried out by volunteers and the Board of Directors and is seen as a small local credit union that is supported by the Scottish League.

In 2004 was when the name and common bond was changed and the area extend to include those who were not being served with the benefits of a credit union.

They received funding from Stirling Council to help develop the Junior Savers scheme to become more attractive in schools.

The Junior Savers Clubs in primary schools see children making regular savings, the numbers tend to fail when the child moves to secondary school.
