The founders as a study group spent a year or so in gathering information on setting the credit union up. The group hoping to benefit the residents in the community offering savings and loans.
As a member of the Scottish League of Credit Unions they are supported with group training sessions, advice on legislative, regulatory and compliance.
The common bond is for people living within the area of Knightswood, Knightscliffe, Temple, Canniesburn, Kelvindale, Bearsden, Jordanhill and Whiteinch areas of Glasgow.
The Common Bond was extended wider afield to areas which were not already being served by any other credit union and membership continues over the years to grow to a manageable number.
The Credit Union had an event at the British Legion in Knightswood in June 2017 to thank their hundreds of members marking the past 25 years of trading.
Many members now have grandchildren joining and even some fourth-generation residents joining. The management team and board all work hard together for the credit union members.
