Kilsyth and Villages Credit Union

Established in February 2000 Companies House Number 145CUS

 The founders spent some time visiting other credit unions and learning the best practises before opening for business.

 As a member of the Scottish League of Credit Unions they are supported with group training sessions, advice on legislative, regulatory and compliance.

From then they continue to provide the services of Savings and Loans to members. The operations and management of the credit union was carried out by volunteers.

The Common Bond and membership have grown at a steady pace.

Junior Saver Account are available where children can start saving until 18 and can then transfer to an adult account helping them with finances as they go through life

John Cullen who was active with Kilsyth and Villages Credit Union was awarded a Bene Merenti medal, a Papal award recognising people for their work within the community. The medal was handed over by Cardinal Keith O’Brien at a service in St Patrick’s Church in June 2005.
