Established in 1988Companies House Number 33CUS
Registered in December 1988 as Glenburn Credit Union Limited by a number of local residents meeting at the community centre and eventually they began to recruit members.
A board of directors were elected and various positions taken up by the founders. The operations and management of the credit union began in earnest in January 1989 and was carried out by the volunteers.
Membership was for local residents who were able to save and then borrow. The Common Bond was extended wider afield, to areas which were not already being served by any other credit union.
It was in October 2015 as a result of delivering services to a wider area when the name changed to Gleniffer Credit Union. Junior Savings Accounts are available from birth to 18 years and receive a Gleniffer Credit Union Piggy.
The credit union celebrated 30 years of trading with a Membership of 700. The introduction in 2019 of new postal districts PA1, PA2 and PA3 will cover the whole of Paisley and Linwood.
To updates or enhance the history on this credit union then it should be e-mailed to the Historical Society for inclusion and recorded for prosperity
