Began with a number of interested people in 1990 with discussions on the feasibility of a credit union to serve the employees of Heriot-Watt University.
The credit union is based on mutual principles. They don’t benefit anybody other than their members.
The board believe a good savings record in the credit union is an acknowledged way of creating a personal source of saved capital and a potential source of much needed credit if necessary.
Membership has now been opened to any employee of Heriot-Watt University, Napier University, Edinburgh University or Queen Margaret University.
Membership 2013 was at 760 members the aim for the year was to increase membership to 1000 members.
In 2015 saw an increase in the Credit union office of members applying for larger loans therefore decided to increase the amount covered by loan protection insurance to £15,000.
At the 2017 AGM it was agreed to approve a 0.5% dividend.
