Established in 1999 Companies House Number 139CUS

The office was a room and was operated by volunteers The Common Bond in time was also extended to serve the wider community

The founding members continue along with new volunteers to provide the services the thriving membership deserves. Since then the Credit Union has offered people a friendly way to save and borrow. They offer a service for local people and over the years have allowed local people to save and borrow at an affordable rate.

The Credit Union acquired and refurbished premises to accommodate the for the future membership with shop front and has paid a dividend of 2% was paid for a number of years

May 2012 was the introduction of the Facebook page giving members notification knowledge of what is going on with the credit union and more.

The Credit Union offers a Junior Saver Account where children can start saving until 18 and can then transfer to an adult account helping them with finances as they go through life. In March 2015 supported by the local Council’s Future Funds Initiative, £10 for each S1 pupil opening an account, the £10 was also be paid to existing Junior Savers.

Also, the same year John Wilson MSP paid a visit to the office opening. He is a strong supporter of Credit Unions and Chairs the Scottish Parliament Working Group on Credit Unions.

A member of ABCUL they have a membership of over 1200 including 400 Junior members from 10 schools.
