The Credit Union was started in 1987 by a number of volunteers operating from the Pivot Community Centre in Moodiesburn. Along with other credit unions affiliated UKCU trade association. they have received training and advice in achieving sustainability. The operations and management of the credit union is carried out by volunteers and the Board of Directors.
The Credit Union is a not for profit, member-owned financial organisation dedicated to the economic development of the Chryston & District community providing financial services to all members including those who have been excluded from traditional services.
The credit union grew to currently 1200 members and acquired portacabin premises in a council compound. A collection point was opened in Chilterns Muirhead and later another in Cardowan.
The common bond for the credit union is living or working in Moodiesburn, Muirhead, Chryston, Gartcosh, Mount Ellen, Stepps or Millerston areas.
