Benarty & Lochgelly Credit Union

Established in 1989 Companies House Number 38CUS

Was started with a study group a year before registration as the future Benarty Credit Union and the founders received training and advice on the best way to achieve their goals.

The Common Bond was extended wider afield, to areas which were not already being served by any other credit union and in April 2004 the name changed to Benarty & Lochgelly Credit Union.

Membership being open to all residents of Benarty and Lochgelly. Postcode Coverage KY5 it being the Common Bond for people residing in Benarty or Lochgelly.

A self-help saving and loans co-operative set up for the mutual benefit of its members in the communities of Ballingry, Lochore, Crosshill, Glengraig (Benarty) and Lochgelly

Membership continues to grow and is very active in the Schools within the Common Bond, who participate in many Credit Union events.

The credit union is a member of the Scottish league of Credit Unions.
