Registered In January 1971 as an Industrial and Provident Society Company the credit union was required to register the business receiving the company number NO00069.

The credit union in 1964 was created by a group of volunteers to bring the people the facility of savings and loans. From then they continue to provide those services and more to their members.
The Common Bond was extended wider afield and is open to anyone who lives or works in the Waterside area (BT47).
Membership continues to grow and the credit union is very active in the schools within the Common Bond, who participate in many Credit Union events, including the annual Art Competition and CU Schools quiz run by the Irish league of Credit Unions.
They have recently gone into partnership with No.1 Currency to provide great rates on foreign exchange to the members.
The introduction of their App allows members to access their account balances and recent transactions conveniently from their smart phone or tablet.
