The credit union was set up in the early 70’s as an Industrial and Provident Society Company and registered in January 1971 as a Credit Union with the number N0000026.

This opening coincided with the launching of the new decimal money.
The office was operated by volunteers from the beginning and they eventually acquired and refurbished premises.
Since then the Credit Union has offered people a friendly way to save and borrow. They offer a service for local people and over the years have allowed local people to save and borrow at an affordable rate.
The Common Bond in time has extended over time to serve the wider community.
Junior members help to collect members money at the local primary school with credit union staff assisting and teaching the importance of savings.
