Sixmiles credit union

After considerable thought and visits to other credit unions it was agreed to set up one up on the same lines as other Lodges.

The operations and management of the credit union was carried out by volunteers and elections were held for the Board of Directors.

Membership is of The Orange Order District and their families and friends.

A good savings record in a CU is an acknowledged way of creating a personal source of saved capital and a potential source of much needed credit if necessary.

Since the beginning they have offered members a friendly way to save and borrow and over the years have allowed local people to save and borrow at an affordable rate.

Any updates on this credit union should be e-mailed to the Historical Society for inclusion and recorded for prosperity
