Moyola & Toome Credit Union started life opening the first account in the “Green Hut” in March 1964. It was launched with just 19 members.

A local man Owen Gribbin with the help of others in the community, contacted John Hume, who was instrumental in starting the first credit union in Northern Ireland, in Derry. Roddy Gribbin was elected first Chairman and Liam Gribbin the secretary and the treasurer was Owen Gribbin.
Many other volunteers followed over the past 45 years and have been influential in the promotion and success of Moyola & Toome Credit Union Limited. Membership is increasing beyond the current 4500 and is growing from strength to strength. Members can now sign up for E statements and view real time by visiting the website.
