Founded in May 1967 as an Industrial and Provident Society Company incorporation on the 11th. January 1971with the company number NO00035.

They strive to offer a member a high-quality service, giving safe and affordable savings and loans with the mantra:- “Not for Profit, Not for Charity but for Service”
The operations and management of the credit union is carried out by the staff and volunteers. The Common Bond was having been extended wider afield, to areas which were not already being served by any other credit union.
The credit union is very active in the Schools within the Common Bond, who participate in many Credit Union events, including the annual Art Competition and CU Schools quiz run by the Irish league of Credit Unions.
Minor members accounts from those schools have their books checked at the weekly school collections
