Kilrea Credit Union

The credit union was started as a savings club in1988 and registered with a Company number NO000114 in May 1989.

At a meeting held at the time it was agreed what the common bond would be for people who are members of Kilrea District No5 LOL their families and friends.

The junior savings account is a safe and useful place for children to save for their future needs in the credit union and parents are encouraged to take advantage of the facility for their children.

The credit union operated from the local Orange Hall for the first ten years and acquired a more permanent home in 1999.

The principles of co-operation and self-help with a view to helping families and individuals in the credit union to improve their quality of life, were the motivating factors in the setting up of the Credit Union.

The credit union is a member of the Ulster Federation of Credit Unions and the 30 year anniversary celebrations took place in May 2019.
