Glenelly Credit Union Limited was established in 1979. Oct 1979, company number NO000100 as an Industrial and Provident Society Company.

The credit union serves the residents of Plumbridge offering financial services from cradle to grave.
They continue to provide the services of Savings and Loans to members and the operations and management of the credit union is carried out by volunteers and supported by staff.
The Common Bond was extended to other areas and membership has continued to grow.
The credit union is very active in the Schools within the Common Bond, who participate in many Credit Union events, including the annual Art Competition and the credit union schools quiz run by the Irish league of Credit Unions.
The credit union in 2018 gave out 90 loans last year totalling quarter of a million locally.
In 2019 they will celebrate the 40th anniversary with members, staff and volunteers in the purpose-built credit union office. The credit union has a face book page and is a member of the Irish League of Credit Unions.
