Dungiven Credit Union

Founded 1968 for the local community after consultation with a few local people who came together for the benefit of all.

The credit Union was registered on the 25th January 1971 as an Industrial and Provident Society Company number NO000032 with the office located in Londonderry. The credit union has a team of volunteers that help to manage the Credit Union.

They offer members an additional savings facility known as Easy Shares Account. The idea behind this savings account is to make available the opportunity for members to set aside funds for a specific purpose.

The Credit Union has a Junior Saver Accounts where children can start saving until 18 and can then transfer to an adult account helping them with finances as they go through life.

Big changes saw credit unions come under the Financial Conduct authority in 2012 where previously they were regulated by the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment (DETI) here in Northern Ireland.

The introduction of the credit union App has allowed members to access their account balances, and recent transactions conveniently from their smart phone or tablet. It also allows users to access opening hours, the full website and access to contacting the Credit Union either by phone or email.
