Registered by a group of local people in October 198 8as an Industrial and Provident Society Company number NO000110.

Operating from Shankill Road the credit union has been in existence for over 30 years based on mutual principles. a profit-sharing community financial organisation.
The operations and management of the credit union was carried out by volunteers and the Board of Directors, but now they are supported by a dedicated number of employees.
The Common Bond has extended over the years wider afield, and later merging with Forthriver and Carrsglen Credit Unions.
The Credit Union offers a Junior Saver Account where children can start saving until 18 and can then transfer to an adult account helping them with finances as they go through life.
Membership is open to anyone who lives or works within the Common Bond area (BT13, BT14 and BT15), Sponsored by a current member
