Coalisland Credit Union

Was formed in 1963 with a study group of local people, representing various interests and concerns about the financial wellbeing of the community in the area.

Meetings were held on a number of occasions and learning began on how to run the organisation, resulting in the eventual opening for business to the residents in Coalisland areas of Stewartstown, Clonoe, Edendork and Newmills.

From a small beginning with nine members and a shareholding of £45, they have now grown to over 11,000 adult and juvenile members and over £25m in shares. Putting people before profit, providing  a safe and secure means of saving, providing loans to members for prudent and productive purposes and responding to members’ requests for additional services for over 50 years.
