Discussions were held by a number of people in early 1996 about a credit union for Taunton
According to records after a series of training sessions and credit union awareness visits the credit union was registered as Taunton Credit Union Limited in April of 1998.
It was prior to 2004 when numerous discussions took place about merging with West Somerset Credit union who had been set up in the late 1990’s.
With the agreement of merger, they began to trade as Moorvale Credit Union and were registered such in August 2005.
The credit union has applied to the FCA to cancel authorisation and is now part of Somerset Community Credit Union.
