Started out as a savings group at St Anne’s Church in Sutton but became a registered Credit Union in 1991 on the 19th June .

As St Helen’s credit union, they have grown from strength to strength and now have a membership of over 2000.
Many of the volunteers who helped set up the Credit Union all those years ago are still volunteering today which shows the commitment they have made to the community
In 2003 the Credit Union joined forces with a similar local group in Moss Bank to form a borough-wide organisation.
The credit union helps members to develop good financial habits and don’t allow them to borrow excessive amounts that will place them into worse financial situations.
November 2010 was when a new website was launched and the common bond became for all who live, work, volunteer or go to school or college in St Helens.
