Pioneer Credit Union

Began with registration in September 2009 It was in the July of 2017 when they added the trading name of (Middlesbrough Community Bank).

Anyone living or working in the Middlesbrough authority area, or with a direct link to Fabrick Housing Group, can become a member.

Thecredit union was a result of the following credit unions coming together over a number of years Park End Credit Union registered July 1992, Hemlington Credit Union registered May 1993, Central Middlesbrough credit union registered June 1994 and A19 Middlesbrough Credit Union June 2002.

Becoming Pioneer Credit Union in 2009 later changing in April 2017 Pioneer Credit Union and Middlesbrough community bank when they were joined by 5 Communities (5Cs) Credit Union.

This merger had taken the membership of Pioneer to almost 3000, assets of the organisation to over £1m.

In 2016 they opened shop premises on Brentnall Street.

During the COVID19 pandemic of 2020 the credit union had reduced their secured loan rate from 12.7% to 6.2%, enabling members to access affordable loans with flexible terms while leaving their savings intact in those uncertain times.

Members could access services directly through Pioneer’s app and/or members area. The credit union enabled to transfer loans funds and share withdrawals via BACS, and the team as all ways were on hand to answer email enquiries.
