Registered in May 2003 as Waltham Forest Community Credit Union offering financial services to the people of the London Boroughs of Waltham Forest.
Further expanding into Enfield, Haringey, Hackney, Newham, Redbridge and the Essex district of Epping Forest it became known as East London Community Credit Union. Later in 2016 registered the name change to East London Credit Union with FCA.
